Naturepedic Review

When I had my first baby I thought I had it all covered. The crib, bedding, mattress. Then I realized the crib bumper could cause suffocation, the cute baby blanket could cause SIDS and the mattress was reaking of plastic odors. Oh how I wish I had a Naturepedic Crib Mattress back then! Luckily I have one when the next baby comes around. Naturepedic generously sent me a No Compromise Organic Ultra Baby Crib and Toddler Mattress to review.

"Naturepedic is the first and only mattress company to specialize exclusively in the design and manufacturing of infant and children's mattresses that promote natural and organic materials, a non-toxic design, fire-safety, and baby health. All Naturepedic natural and organic mattresses have been designed with the help of pediatricians, orthopedic specialists, chemists, and engineers. Research and design is coordinated by G.E.M. Testing & Engineering Labs in Cleveland, Ohio."

Many crib mattresses use vinyl/PVC and polyurethane foam that release chemicals. Can you believe that is legal? There is actually an interesting article on the Naturepedic website that talks about Phthlates that I would recommend anyone who sleeps on a bed to read. Can you imagine your brand new little baby inhaling chemicals while they sleep? Naturepedic uses Polyethylene, a food grade environmentally friendly plastic. The mattress also uses organic cotton, has heavy duty orthopedic innerspring, is hypoallergenic, and offers non-toxic fire protection. Now that is peace of mind!

The mattress is so soft to the touch and I love how one side feels slightly firmer for a baby while the other is softer for a toddler.

Naturepedic also has several other products including other size mattresses and mattress covers. To view all of their products as well as informative links and faq's visit
