Halloween Party for the Nursery Class

We ate yummy treats, blew bubbles, and had a pumpkin hunt. It was nice for all the little ones to get together. It's crazy how I planned ALL month long but it was over so quickly. I think I worry too much about all the tiny details. They're just toddlers, they won't notice if it's not perfect! If you notice, Jackson kept running from the camera and Ki was sad because Kali was standing on his foot. Too funny! The boys were so excited to have their friends over. They have friends- that is too grown up for me to handle!

Happy Halloween!

Last night Cody and the boys carved the pumpkin. They had fun while I took pictures. Here are some pics of the boys helping dad and of them getting grossed out from the pumpkin guts.
The last pic is of Jackson smelling the pumpkin. I swear he is going to grow up to be one of those drug dogs because the boy smells EVERYTHING!

I Have to Win This!

This is one of the items I want to win. I am so desperately in need of a good quality double stroller. Hope I win!

Tip Me Off!

Ok, it's been a little crazy lately so I haven't been able to post much. Just been keeping the posts short and sweet. We are getting ready for our Halloween party for the nursery kids tomorrow, cleaning my house, make the boys feel loved, enter blog giveaways (yes still!) so I have been neglecting my blog. I will be posting more soon so don't forget about me!

Here's two tips to share with you-
my friend Shauntel told me that she cleans her wedding ring with toothpaste. I tried it and it totally works! I used a toothbrush too and it is sparkling clean. So there you go.

next, did you know that you can order coupons on ebay? Lots of people clip coupons for you and only charge for their time. I just ordered 20 coupons for toilet paper. They are each $1 and don't expire until Dec. 31st. I just used some of them yesterday and stocked up for food storage (even though it's not food). I only paid $1 for the coupons and that is so worth it!

So... What tips do you have? Please share! Think about who could benifit from your tip!

I am trying to enter them all- I better win at least once right? If you want to enter to than click here. Beware- it's addicting and exhausting! I am hoping to score some Christmas presents for people.

I will try to post something soon....and Paula tagged me so I have to get on that- sorry Paula! Good luck guys!

Look What I Scored!

I don't even remember requesting this but I got Halloween Kit from Bear Naked

Granola! They sent a shirt - and it's not one of those cheap ones, a bag, a sticker, and lots of bags of granola to hand out to trick or treaters. I will be using them for my goody bags at our halloween party. And they sent the kit FedEx. Fancy Schmancy!

Trunk or Treat

My little Buzz Lightyears

they had face painting and a cupcake walk

proud momma

my hubby had the night off- yeah!

they really love their costumes!

We had a great time at Trunk or Treat last night. It was a long day but the kids had a lot of fun. I have to tell you that there costumes are a miracle! Ki wanted to be Buzz and Jackson wanted to be Woody. The only place you can get a Woody is on Ebay- for around $40- $50!!!!!!!!! I couldn't bring myself to do it. So I found these but I decided late on Jackson's and it came the day of. I was praying up and down that it would come. It all worked out and they run around the house acting out Toy Story scenes. It was so cute seeing them run from car to car saying trick or treat. I love my little buzzes!

I Have to Win This!

I know I lower my chances by telling you about this giveaway but you get extra entries for posting about it, and of course I couldn't keep this from you! If you go to my new favorite blog The Secret is in the Sauce (SITS for all the cool people), you could win the Healthy Home Vacuum from Bissell. I have been wanting this for sooooooo long. Maybe since I'm telling you about this, if you happen to win..... you could give it to me? I didn't think so. Oh well, good luck!

Bath and Body Works Coupon

I just printed out a cool coupon that I found on BeCentsAble. It is for a FREE Wallflowers Diffusor Starter Set at Bath and Body Works. You just have to purchase anything in the store and then get your free item. It says only one per customer so I printed out two and will make my hubby come with me. I don't know if it will work but I'm gonna give it a try. I don't use the diffusors but I think these would make great gifts.

Do you know of any good deals or coupons out there? Share the love!

Christmas Ideas

Big Contest over at They have some really cool giveaways that support WAHM (work at home moms). I picked the Vintage Button Ring from Whimsy Kisses, a gift certificate to Kozy Pals, and a bracelet from I really want to win!

Then the fabulous Annie at Regarding Annie (who I always feel I can relate to when I read her blog) has created some cute Twilight shirts. She is trying to raise moola to support a trip to visit her husband who will be gone for seven weeks. My hubby was gone training for 4 months for his job. Now I was able to see him for a day or two here and there- it was still hard! So support a sista and get your Christmas shopping done at the same time! Click on the link for the shirts.

Saving Money 101

Ok, so I have been a little blog happy today but I am just making up for being gone over the weekend while reading Breaking Dawn ( almost done!). I just had to let you know that I was just featured again on SavingMoney101! Paula said my blog is cute! I know my head is getting big, but what a sweetheart! Paula has really great tips and motivates me on ways to save. Who wouldn't love that?

Tonight I made a super easy soup for dinner, Chicken Enchilada Soup, and added pureed squash and zucchini to boost the nutrients. I found it on Blogger Buffet. If you haven't been to this blog-GO THERE! It has great recipes that people post. I love getting favorite recipes because that usually means that it is pretty good. Go ahead and join Blogger Buffet so I can get all of your recipes- please!

Do you have a favorite blog or website for getting recipes?

Paula's Pumpkin Bars

Me and the boys made these today- they are the best ever! Go Paula Deen! I tried to make the pic bigger but it didn't work. My aunt recommended this recipe to me and is always a hit when I make it. If you want to make it click here .

Also for all my LDS readers, here is a great Halloween FHE activity that we did yesterday. The boys loved it and I could tell my 3 year old son, Ki, understood. Check it out! Spookley the Square Pumpkin.

100 Days to Christmas

Are you ready for Christmas? Me either! I have some presents purchased but I have no set plans or organization ( how much to spend on each person, what to get, etc) But I found this cool site to get me going. 1oo Days to Christmas has a new idea or task everyday to prepare you for the holidays along with a great giveaway each week. I used to think it was silly to start buying Christmas presents in October but now I think it is genius! I have been finding toys in the clearance section and getting them for the boys here and there. I also read an idea somewhere about buying gift cards every time you go to the grocery store ( in my case Walmart). Then when it's time for you to buy your baking supplies (or presents if you go to Walmart) then you won't be overwhelmed with the cost. It's a little way to save!

What do you do to get ready for the holidays?

Just Takin' a Break

I wanted to take a break from Breaking Dawn (halfway done and loving it) and check out the Blogging World. It feels good! I added more blogs to my blog list. I know- it is a really LONG list, but there are just so many cool, talented women out there and I just can't help myself. So if you have time give them a click. You won't be disappointed!

Look What I'm Not Going to be Doing...

For the next few days I will be much to busy to do the laundry,

and the cleaning.......
and you can forget about any cooking.....
and since I won't be doing any cooking, their won't be many dishes to wash......

all because I'll be reading this!

I am so excited to read this but sad that it's the last one. If you have read the series, what did you think? Too much hype, or was it better than you thought it would be?

Wednesday, October 15, 2008

Ok so I found out about this a little late but it is an important topic that doesn't need to be mentioned on only one day right? Today is Blog Action Day. Poverty is such a silent thing these days but it affects so many. There are a lot of things in this world today that occupy our time and focus( things that are good and not so good) that this subject can go overlooked. So many people go hungry- so many children. I'm not writing to pretend like I am an expert on poverty or how to end it, but awareness can cause us to take action! I had a dear friend once (who shall remain nameless although I would love to say who) who did something that I will never forget. Times were tough and money was tight- tighter than tight. One day after running some errands my husband and I came home to find a card in the door. In it was a gift card for $100 for a grocery store and only signed "a friend". Of course I knew her handwriting and after much convincing, she eventually admitted that she was the one who had left it. Someone had done it for her and she did it for me. I will ALWAYS remember that. Now I wasn't in poverty. I am not in poverty. I don't know much about it, but, we probably don't realize what others are going through. We can help even if we don't have much to give. If you go to Blog Action Day you can give money- even $25 to start a business loan for someone. Or you can grow a garden and share it with others. Donate change at McDonalds, buy a few food items that are on sale and donate to your local food pantry. Make a meal for someone who doesn't have much. Anything can help. I know that I need to be more aware of those around me and how I can help and shift my thinking. If we just see "that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass" Alma 37:6 we can do little things that can make a big impact. How about you? Do you have any thoughts or ideas on what we can do to help those in need?

Christmas Spirit

On the 30 Days blog, Mique, offers a great idea. She talks about being involved in a worthy cause for Christmas this year and suggess Project Linus which gives handmade blankets to kids. There are chapters all over the place. Wouldn't it be great to make some, maybe getting a group of women together too? Even if it's just one it would still be helping. Check out Mique's blog- she has a sign up started. Count me in!

I Love Packages

My wonderful friend from AZ sent me a package the other day.

She sent me the third Twilight book which I finished at 1:30 this morning- can't wait for the 4th!
And this show by Masterpiece Theater- she says it's soooo good- Can't wait! And then she sent me a gift card to Old Navy AND Borders! I think I might get these.....
Or maybe these.....
I am so thankful that even though we moved far away from friends and family, they still keep in touch and are so thoughtful! My mom called today and said she is sent out a package today- can't wait to see the goodies. I'll have to post about it when it comes.

Ideas Anyone?

I have been so frustrated lately. I try to go grocery shopping for healthy food- some organic but mostly just food that is not processed- and try to save money at the same time. But alas, I can't seem to get my grocery bill down. I use coupons when I can and I just discovered the wonders of printing coupons online, but I still can't get it down. We do almost all of our grocery shopping at the Super Walmart which is an hour away and so selection can be limited. I keep coming across these blogs where the women post all the free things they receive from CVS or Walgreens (we don't have either) and how they get $150 worth of groceries for $13. Well I am so happy for them but how does that help me? There is no co-op here, no coupons in the newspapers and lots of stuff on sale that I just don't buy for my family. I'm not that picky but I don't buy lots of fake stuff or anything with high frucotse corn syrup ( even though those new commercials out there are trying to make it seem ok- I still don't think so!) Does anyone have any tips? How do you save money on groceries?

Has anyone seen this before?

The Invisible Woman

My mom, Kathy is a school teacher and one of her student's mom emailed me this. I have read in email form but it's way better watching it in person. I think every woman can appreciate this!

Monday, October 6, 2008

Do you notice something different? If you do and you like it and you want a change too, then go see Shelsscraps. This woman is amazing and talented and most of all generous! She has so many free backgrounds to choose from that I might be switchin' it up from time to time.

We harvested the rest of our garden. The corn FINALLY came in! We have lots of yummy squash too. I pureed the squash and mixed it in the boys organic mac and cheese today. I always do it and they never seem to notice they are eating their veggies- until today. They both said it was yucky! My husband told me there would be a day when I couldn't trick them, when they will rebel and I think that day is here! Oh what's a girl to do? Anyways, I also made this yummy casserole from Pioneer Woman with the corn. You HAVE to try it! If you're on a diet forget about it. This is soooooooo worth it.
Blogger is being silly so here is the link

Giveaway at Full Mommy

Hey everyone! I came across this blog FullMommy that is giving away a Flip Ultra camcorder. I want to win one for my friend Tianna who really needs one to record her new baby. So check it out if you're feeling lucky!

photo tag

Here is my photo for my photo tag. It's Cody and I before we got married in front of the Mesa Temple. Oh to be young again!

Tagged x 2

I've been tagged twice! One from my friend MyKelle and a photo tag from my friend Carrie. The photo tag is easy. Just go to your picture file, open the 6th folder, and the 6th picture! Then post it and tag 5 friends.
So here I go! Warning: this may bore you, I think I'm falling asleep..........

1) I was Valedictorian in high school. I went to a small charter arts high school. My graduating class was 42 so it's not saying a lot but it looked good on college applications!

2) My favorite song is Tainted Love-ohohoh! When that song comes on I get in the silliest mood and start dancing around. Cody just shakes his head and looks away.

3) I HATE loud noises. Really hate. If it's too loud I get really irritable. Needless to say I'm irritable everyday because the boys are always loud.

4) Wow, I'm running out of things... I used to dance for most of my life. I started when I was 2 then off and on in grade school and then hardcore in junior high and high school. I did ballet and modern but was really only good at ballet but not that good. I miss it so much!

5) I love poetry. I used to write it but it was just teenage anger and way to depressing. I'm hoping to start again but write about things more positive like my cute little boys!

6) Almost done, I love cake! Wedding cake is my favorite but I'll take birthday cake any day. But don't give me any whipped frosting- I need butter cream baby! Here is a picture of my wedding cake. I designed it and my most fabulous Grandma Hooker made it! I don't know if I ever thanked her enough- thank you Grandma, the best wedding present ever! By the way the ABC on the cake stand for Ashley and Cody Barnhart. I still can't figure out how to separate the pics with text- does anyone know?
7) I want to be a wedding dress model. It's my dream. I love wedding dresses. Sometimes I try mine on ( which is too big on top now since having two kids) and show the boys. They get excited and say "Momma's a princess!" and I say "I KNOW!". I love it! Above is a pic of my wedding dress. I had it picked out before I even met Cody. It was the one and only dress I ever tried on.

Now I tag Merrianne , Shauna and Mom for both tags and Carrie for the first one. I would tag more people on my list but I don't think they know who I am. If anyone wants me to tag them let me know!

Healthy Website

Has anyone heard of Azure Standard? My friend Jessica told me about them. It is a company (and a farm) that sell natural and organic foods from many different companies. You can have it shipped to you (which I think might be expensive) or you can set up a delivery spot. There are certain order minimums but if you can get a big enough group together to do an order it is well worth it. For many of you, you might not need this service because you are so very fortunate to live near a Whole Foods (oh how I miss you! ) or some other type of health food store. But I am in the middle of nowhere so I think this place rocks! Also you can order in bulk which is great for food storage! Don't be discouraged by the order requirements- get your friends to go in on it with you. Don't have friends? Then put an ad at your grocery store, or just call Azure and see if they have a dropoff point near you to get in touch with.

Lazy Days

I was a little productive today but not enough to rid me of my guilt for my laziness. But here is what we did. Side note: I am so slow to blogging and don't know how to post a pic and then have some writing and then do another pic so you will be getting it all at once for now.

Finished up this basic blanket for the boys and then the little angels found a new use for it. Then we made a Halloween craft that I saw on someone else's blog- another one I forgot but let me know if it was you! Ki named him Pumpkin Pumpkin Pumpkin. I realized that I'm a lot like Kate on John and Kate Plus 8. My husband would agree. Kate doesn't like her kids to do crafts because it's too messy. That's me. The whole time I kept telling myself " they need to experience this, they're just kids..." but then when they started going glue crazy, I had to take over. But we did it together and they think they made it so that's what matters, right?
