I have been looking for a book for Ki to go over what he needs to learn for kindergarten. It is still about a year away but I want to be prepared! I bought flash cards but the boys just bent them and I was so sick of cleaning them up.
The Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten book by Stacey Kannenberg is a great way to prepare your child for what they need to learn. I received the Let's Get Ready for Kindergarten book in English and Spanish as well as the Let's Get Ready for First Grade. I loved so many different things about this book. First of all I loved the pages! They are all professionally laminated so they are durable and withstand my little guy's destructive hands! Also a great way to use a dry erase marker to trace the letters and numbers. The next thing that I liked was that there is a teacher, Mrs. Good, that guides you through each page of the book with tips and motivation. She also has students from different ethnic backgrounds. The first thing Ki said (embarrassingly) was that he didn't like the kids. I asked him why and he said because they all looked different from him. It was the perfect time for me to explain to him that people are all made differently and that is what makes us all so special. He said "oh, Ok!" and that was that!
I really liked the flow of the concepts in the book as well as the Spanish version of what we just went over. I highly recommend these books to any parent wanting to help their child get ready for school or just to brush up on some concepts while they are in school.
